(no subject)

So tired. I was just blaming sleep deprivation--I didn't go to bed until 2:15 Weds night, and not until about 1 last night--but I think it's also what another friend who was there called "emotional hangover". We attended Amanda Palmer's "There Will Be No Intermission" last night. Four hours of solo!AFP, harrowing stories of her life, ups and downs and sideways curves.

I had heard beforehand --but not long before, like *at dinner* yesterday--that it was an emotional show, but I didn't worry much about it. Then when we got into the venue they were passing out packets of Kleenex. Oh. They meant it.

I didn't cry that much, but I still used up several tissues, and I'm still shook.

Possibly my "hangover" is also affected by the beautifully heartbreaking 45K Endgame fix-it Thorki story I read Weds night. It sucked me in completely so that I couldn't stop reading and didn't realize how late it had gotten until I finished it and finally looked up. Here, have a link: the choiceless hope in grief by glimmerglanger.

May books

  1. Carry On, Rainbow Rowell
I love this so hard. I heard recently there is going to be a sequel (Wayward Son, lmao), and went looking for it at my libraries. No luck...turns out it doesn't come out till September. So I borrowed this one again to reread in the meantime. Think I probably ought to buy it.

  2. Deep Creek, Pam Houston
