[livejournal.com profile] mactavish linked a story about a flamboyant highschool chemistry teacher. I sometimes wish my high school chemistry teacher had been that interesting. My mom was a chemist; I always had an interest in the subject. But my teacher Mrs. Scaggs was an old traditionalist. No flaming methane in her class. She wasn't a bad teacher, though; she expected the best from her students and usually got it, as much as we complained about her and made fun of her name.

And then there was my physics teacher, "Coach" Mitchell. Every year the Advanced Physics class created a special Fizyxmas tree--one year it was mounted upside down, another year it was two small trees suspended from a rotating bar--and on the last day before Christmas they serenaded the school with "Fizyxmas carols" led by Vectorman, including such classics as "Chestnuts roasting on a Bunsen burner".

I've just googled for Physics carols. Apparently there are quite a number, but in a quick perusal I don't find any I specifically recall.
