My left eye has been itching and irritated all morning. I kept trying to make it settle down with eyedrops and gentle rubbing, but finally gave in just now and went to take out the contact and clean it. When I got it out, I found it had a triangular tear out of the edge. No wonder it hurt! Can't put that back in my eye, so I'm stuck here all day with only one eye that can focus. I will probably have an eyestrain headache by the end of the day. I have no extra contacts here, no glasses, and it's too far to drive home and come back. I suppose I could take some sick time this afternoon and just not come back...

do you wear disposables? have your prescription on you (i keep a copy in my wallet)? just about any eye center or optometrist's office which stocks your brand will give you a free sample contact lens. i've resorted to this many times.

Seriously, thanks. I went straight to the mall and got a replacement, and my eyes are so much happier now.

I need to try contacts again - I really like them much better than glasses. But when wearing them, I always have to keep the case and my glasses with me. If I lost one lens, or couldn't keep them in for some reason, I'd be stuck - I can hardly walk through the house safely that way, much less drive!
