recalcitrant posted the lyrics to REM's "Losing my Religion". I love REM and I love that song. I haven't heard it in a long time. Guess I know what CD to play when I get home tonight.

This is not why I love the song, but I was reminded of it by seeing the lyrics. In about 1998 I won $1000 from the radio station in the "Song of the Day" contest on that song. When I first started working for <company name>, they didn't have any cubicles available so I was given an office. I had my little boombox playing all day. First I won a gift certificate for dinner at Faust's by knowing what mole is.

A month or two later, I won the Song of the Day contest. I was doing quite well by having a radio in my office. Of course, it couldn't last. We had office reorganizations, and I got moved to a cube. I don't really like having headphones on while I work, so I don't listen to music during the day anymore.

A surprise phone call

I had a phone call late last night from my cousin Dawn Marie. She's going to be in St Louis for the next week because her son is having heart surgery at Children's Hospital. I didn't even know she had a son before this, but he's 18 months old. Hopefully I'll get a chance to get together with her and visit them, although this is a very busy week.

Bored bored bored...I have only a few outstanding issues on my programs now, but they're almost all things I have to wait for someone else to deal with. I've gotten my next assignment, but again, I can't really start on it until I've had a meeting with the designer, and that won't happen until at least tomorrow at this point.

So I'm just sitting in front of my computer checking email every five minutes and refreshing LJ almost as often, hoping for something new to read. I can't seem to motivate myself to write or do anything, even though I clearly have the time.

What a night.

Rosa just wouldn't stay in bed. Up three times, wanting water, food, or anything else she could think of that wasn't sleep.
