Last night's dreams
Aug. 7th, 2002 07:22 amA con game I entered late, playing Fiona. Random, played by a small darkhaired woman (who might have been Tracie from ACUS), was being menaced by a werewolf, or so it appeared. I asked him, "Someone else?" and left the room at his nod. I walked down the hall a bit talking into my hand as if making a trump call, and then turned around and walked back, standing very straight: Benedict. I don't remember exactly what happened then, there was something about a vampire, something about stolen language, and then one of the players came up behind me and grabbed my arm. I whirled around without thinking and stabbed her in the throat with a prop that was standing in for a dagger. It actually scratched her, but didn't draw any blood. She whined about it for quite a while even though I told her I was sorry. I kind of expected the GM to nix that part, but instead she told the player, "Sorry, you're dead. Never startle Benedict!" Then we had a break while the GM did some calculations. I sat down on a couch and she, a pretty blonde with shoulder length hair, sat on my lap with her notepad. She told me I lost 23 points for that killing. Someone else lost 1000 for stealing someone's language. "This is that sort of client." (Yes, she said client. Not sure why.) I took it to mean it was a game system where the PC's lose points for doing "bad" things and gradually descend into evil or insanity. The dagger prop, btw, was a white vibrator shaped more or less like a tongue but pointed.
There was a bit, I think at the con hotel, about melted glass bottles left out in the sun. DM was in there somewhere.
Another dream. I was working on refinishing some woodwork in a house--not my house but one I think I have lived in in other dreams too. A very tall narrow brick house with steeply slanting floors. This time one side was open to a parking garage. It was a morning before work, but I found that the finish from one part had run across another part. It was still wet, I had to clean it all up before going to work. Ray helped me with a tiny bit but was being annoying because he had a suit on. Rosa was being even more annoying, getting in the way. Somewhere in this dream, I got too hot and took off my pants, going around in only a Tshirt and underwear. Went out to the mailbox like that. In the mailbox were several single Rosa-shoes. I took only one of them inside. Some talk with the people who ran the parking garage. One conversation was about nine-ball pool, and how you should never exclaim over a win in one shot nor over a hole-in-one in golf, or a strike in bowling. Just write down the score and go on, because it's bad luck to comment or get excited. I said I had won nine-ball on the first shot a couple times, and that it is much harder to sink all the balls at once (or even more than two of them) than to sink only the nine.
