I'd been a bit worried that I would be lost, as it's more than two years since I read The King's Peace, but everything came back quickly. Prologue helped with that. I very much like Sulien; she seems like a person I would like to know. The books feel like the reminiscences of an old soldier, telling the story of her life, which happens to coincide with a very pivotal time in the history of her country. I suppose I have to say country; it doesn't quite seem like the right term but nothing else better comes to mind. Land, perhaps.
