Is there a word...

for that feeling that I describe as feeling like a butterfly pinned to a board? It's a feeling of not being able to escape something you really need to deal with, of karma having caught up with you, of someone or something having seen through you and penetrated your defenses, of a spotlight being trained directly on you and your choices.

Is there a word for that?

Not that I can think of, other than life, sometimes. Not a fun thing, but shit happens.

Yeah, I'm okay. Might contact you anyway, though, if the bosses stay away and I think I can get away with IM today. :-)

This actually referred back to the previous message that says "Thus do we wish away our children's imaginations," and in this case was actually a good thing. I was forced to think about something I hadn't thought about before. On the whole, I think I'm doing well with it though.

It's not so completely foreign, though. I think I first recognized this feeling in the course of marital counseling, when the world seemed to be against me.
