our group. We've got a lot of [xyz]-related projects to complete before
[October] and we've asked Randy to manage these projects. MikeF will be
working with him."
Note the lack of mention of the fact that I've been the main programmer
on [xyz] for the last several years, and that I've been involved in all
the design meetings and change review meetings for that same period.
Note that my name is nowhere in that list.
Note also that this was the first time I'd heard anything about this
change.
And wonder why I'm pissed. Not to mention worried about my future.
On the other hand, if I can make the assumption this isn't a sign of my
impending doom, a big part of me is relieved. I'm not really interested
in managing people or projects other than my own. I predict this
assignment to be very stressful and time-consuming, requiring a lot of
overtime, and I'd rather have my weekends free.
