Oh my gods. What a relief to finally get online again. My modem blew out yesterday...I am such an addict that the rest of the afternoon and evening were hellish, and the first thing this morning I went out and bought a new modem. Even though I plan to get DSL within a few weeks.

You need the modem for backup, anyway, so you can dial up when/if the DSL goes down.

I have so many ways of getting online it's pathetic. DSL, 4 dail up accouts, my cell phone network. If the modem goes on one computer, I have the laptop or Tim's computer.

i completely understand the need. I'm the same way, and our network has been down so often that I'm starting just to leave my email program up, so I can have new mail even if the connection isn't working at that moment. :)
