U is for Unicorn: The symbol and ancestor of Amber. I have a (very
non-cutesy) unicorn tattooed on my right calf.

U is for Undressed: My default state, when at home.

U is for Understanding: Something I crave from my birthfamily, but
haven't figured out how to attain.

U is for Unabridged: As in dictionaries and vocabulary. When I was a kid
I was accused of reading the dictionary. I always denied it, although
there was some truth to the accusation: whenever I look something up,
there's always a dozen other things on the page that intrigue me. But
the main truth is that I gained my vocabulary merely from reading
voraciously.

U is for Underwear: While I hate wearing bras (they cut into my
shoulders and pinch me, and I *like* my perky nipples, thank you very
much), I really don't like doing without panties. Every once in a great
while, for variety or horniness' sake, I will, but for everyday, give me
my knickers!

U is for Uppity: This is kind of backwards. I dislike the word "uppity"
itself, as it indicates that there's a "proper place" for the person
being so described, and that place is inferior to the speaker. However,
I admire the attitude and behavior of people who refuse to accept an
inferior place because of societal prejudice, and might therefore be
called "uppity" by someone not me.

U is for Utilikilt: *leer* It almost seems to be a necessary, if not
sufficient, criterion for my boyfriends that they be willing to wear a
kilt. The oftener, the better. Someone will probably point out an
exception, but it's been a trend recently.

U is for Ursula K. Le Guin: I really love _Left Hand of Darkness_.

U is for the Ugly Duckling: I feel very much like I was an ugly
duckling: it was very hard for me to make friends as a child, I never
had any romantic interest expressed in me during adolescence, but now?
I'm blessed to overflowing with friends and lovers.

U is for Universe: I am fascinated by the workings of nature. I saw
something today in a comment thread on

makinglight that I
really liked. A poster there was talking about his Radical Pantheism:
basically, the idea is that Nature is so wonderful in its own right that
it should be worshiped for what it is. (And, as Chris just stated, "It's
where I keep all my stuff!")

I nearly said U is for Uterus, but I don't precisely *like* my uterus.
It's there, it's currently very important to me for the purpose of
project baby, but most of my life it's been a monthly nuisance.
