Naked small girl wrapped in a towel. Water is running.

Girl: Mom, can I ask...

Mother follows her into the darkened bathroom. No lights are on.

Girl: Can you put a lighted candle right here? indicates the corner of the vanity

Mother looks puzzled.

Girl: The lights are too bright. I just want a calm relaxing bath with a lighted candle.

Mother: Not now. Maybe next time. turns on the lights You'll have to use the lights this time.

Ah mom.... I love taking a bath by candlelight - it IS calm and relaxing. Aubri loves it too. :)

The girl is growing up - gotta face it. :(

It is a pity that she couldn't have it this time. Can you plan ahead with her for a future time in the tub by candlelight? Is she old/responsible enough to be safe?

(I am a horrible softie for my daughters, I love to indulge them in the small things. It makes it easier to say no to the larger things that are not reasonable for whatever reason [usually money.])

TBH the main reason I turned her down is that I don't know where the matches are and we didn't have time for a search right then. I shall endeavor to locate them, and then she can have candles.
