*Sigh* Sleep dep wasn't supposed to start until tomorrow night. But with Rosa being sick I've already been getting insufficient sleep for the last few days. Last night was another night of regular waking and demands for water.

Somewhere in there I had a dream of AE Brand narrating his relationship with Fiona. It was like a movie with voiceovers: I heard his voice and everything. But I don't remember what he sounded like, and I only remember two sentences. "She had the softest skin," speaking of themselves when very young, and "Oh, the conversation under the cherry tree," much much later. I can nearly see the visuals of each, also. A view of her unclothed back, and two faint ghostly figures standing under a huge and extravagantly blooming cherry tree.

Sounds much more romantic to the Brand / Fiona relationship another GM threw at me. There, Fiona (when a fair bit younger than in the books) traded a child by Brand in exchange for knowledge that only Brand had access to. I don't know the whole story, but I rather chalk it up to Fiona shrugging and saying, "I got what I paid for", refusing to talk more about it.

This is not cannon to the background of said game, but I suspect she found out about that knowledge independantly sometime shortly after, making what she went through (and what her child went through) to be not worth it.

The child was 'rescued' some years later, and in said game, I believe Bleys raised it, and of the surviving Amberites, only Bleys and Fiona know the truth of what happened, way back when.

I'm not a Brand fan, but I know someone who is, and she'd possibly enjoy your version far better. <smile />
