Pagan Picnic
Jun. 15th, 2002 08:53 pmThe Pagan Picnic was fun. Kind of weird, because all the people I know that usually attend weren't there (having gone to Ohio for the Pagan Spiritual Gathering which happened to be on the same weekend this year). But I showed up at noon and looked around for the ShowMeez. No one seemed to be there at first, but then a couple with a double stroller appeared, and after a few minutes I guessed they must be the Ferrets, so I went over and asked. They were, and we all waited for everyone else.
diva7, Matt,
dragongirl79 and
starknight arrived a little while later, having walked from
starknight's house. Then finally
indigobynight with her younger two kids strolled up. We all wandered through the vendors' alley looking at this and that and talking a bit. Then we sat down for a while and people began to talk about going elsewhere. Most of the group took off heading for the Zoo, and Rebecca and I sat down to talk for a little while, since I wanted to wait for Jen and she needed to wait for her husband.
My cell phone rang. This is a somewhat major occurrence in my life, since I rarely remember to turn it on, and when I do, I forget to keep it charged. It was Jen, saying she was looking for me. I described where I was sitting, and she said, "Are you with some other people?" I said yes, and she told me to turn around. She was 20 yards away!
So then I spent some more time wandering about meeting people with her, looking at more schtuff (I bought a chainmail headband.), and just doing nothing much. Then Jen had obligations with CAST, so I went to dinner with Rebecca et alia at Mekong. After dinner I went down to CheapTrx to get a card for Paul, who has been having a bad week. He's straight: I got him a card with a half-naked sailor on it that says "Do your part. Enjoy seafood at least once a week." Walked back to the park, found Jen hanging with the Kindred, and got more hugs and kisses before sending her home and coming home myself.
