Voltaire at the Complex

Rebecca came over just after nine and we got dressed. We arrived at the Complex about 10:15. The ad had said 10 pm to 3 am, and we didn't want to miss anything. There was hardly anyone there yet, but Kristy and Josh were there so we sat and talked (as much as you can talk over loud music) and looked at people for a while. Then Rebecca's friend Tanya showed up and joined us. Still just DJ's spinning music and we really began to wonder what was going on. In the end Kristy and Josh had to leave even before he started playing--which was after midnight. The rest of us danced a little until it was time for the show.
I guess it was about an hour set. maybe 75 minutes. Voltaire started about 12:15, ended at 1:30. But it was well worth staying up for. He played "The Man Upstairs", "See You in Hell", "Future Ex-Girlfriend", "God Thinks", "Sexy Data Tango", "USS Make Shit Up", "Worf's Revenge", "The Vampire Club", and lots of other things I didn't know yet and don't remember the titles of. Still, I recognized quite a few from hearing Jen's CD and then Elissa's. I wanted to buy a cd but decided not to wait for the setup of the sales table. I figure I can order it online later.
He introduced "Sexy Data Tango" by asking if anyone there was a Star Trek fan. Only one person raised his hand, yet somehow there was a lot of appreciative noise during and after the song, so much that he commented "Funny how one person, if they're really loud, can sound like the whole club," and played the next Banned on Vulcan song. That one got even more crowd participation, so he played the third.
So glad I went. Floating on the post-concert dazy high.

::sigh:: "Cannot contact server". Turns out I'm on the chef cluster, and whaddya know, it's being worked on "from 11:30 pdt for one or two hours." I'm going to bed and post this in the morning.

Here it is morning. As expected, I'm seriously dragging from lack of sleep. But I'm still glad I went. I really enjoyed myself.
