My nastygram succeeded. I just talked to the customer service supervisor, and he simply said "I'm going to wipe out that balance. Disregard any more bills that come from that account." So easy!
Nearly the same thing has/is happening to us. We moved May 1, called 2 weeks in advance to get everything switched (we had the keys and they had plenty of access to the new house). When it still wasn't switched as of the May 20th bill, we called again. "Oh, yes, it is switched". The next call in June "Oh, yes, I see the error, all is fixed". Yet we just got a bill last week saying it was our final bill, and we owed $9.31. For the old house. We called again, and the Supervisor claims that all is correct now. This is all the while we paid over 200 bucks between all the months, and now we find out all of that has been for the old house. We were told that the new resident has to call and tell Laclede how long they have lived there, and then Lacelede gas would decide if they would credit our new account with what we had already paid. Yeah, because it's the new resident's problem...and I'm sure they will call and tell Laclede to bill them.
I hate Laclede Gas. I am completely sympathetic :)
