Sep. 7th, 2002 09:11 pmRosa's singing "water under there" and it made me think of the Talking Heads again.
She has recently (yesterday) started talking about a friend called Mariella. I don't think there are any children by that name in her class, and I don't even know where she might have gotten the name from. But Ray had an aunt by that name, who died of cancer in about 1993. I wonder if his family has mentioned her recently. I'll have to mention it to him.
She's also been talking about a Daniel, and I don't know of any children that she knows with that name either. Nor any absent relatives.
We had a family outing today, all four of us: me, Jen, and both the kids. It went quite well, too. The morning was a children's parade at Phaelen's preschool; they let Rosa ride along with him on the bed of the truck, and Jen and I just stood in the shade and talked while we waited for them to come back.
Then we took them to Target and bought them each a toy. Phaelen got Digimon trading cards and Rosa got a wooden puzzle of interchangeable clothing with a picture of a little girl.
Last we all went to lunch at Applebee's. I think it was the first time we ever had both of them at a restaurant, and it went quite well.
I can't wait until she moves in here. I think it will have to be late October, now that I've got my parents tentatively planning to come visit the weekend of the 19th.
