Found the wrong cat
Apr. 26th, 2010 09:38 amAbout three weeks ago, a man came past our house looking for his cat. She's a small Siamese, very friendly, he said. Told me his address. I looked for the cat a little bit but didn't find her, and then mostly forgot about it except that a handbill appeared on the streetlight at our corner.
Last night, after we got home from the Indigo Girls concert, guess what we found hiding in our bushes: a small friendly female Siamese cat, possibly pregnant or recently delivered. Chris went back out and searched for kittens but didn't find any. We cooped her up in the upstairs bathroom, and first thing today after dropping Rosa at school I went over to the man's house and rang the bell.
Took him a while to get to the door, because he'd worked last night, but no. The cat we found is not his cat. I showed him a picture of the cat we found, he showed me a picture of his. They're very similar, but his cat has brown paws and this one has white feet. Also this one is grayer and his is browner.
That poor guy. I feel awful that I gave him some hope and then it turns out to be the wrong cat.

I have listed her on craigslist and this afternoon I'll take her to the vet clinic to see if she's got a chip. In the meantime, she's got all the comforts of home in the bathroom, and she'll be fine there. Hopefully we won't be getting a litter of kittens while we wait for the cat's people to turn up.
ETA: I just got back from the cat clinic. She does not have a chip. Vet assistant says she appears recently delivered, but maybe the kittens are already weaned.
