Completely agree with you on that one. I have Tori Amos' Strange Little Girls CD and I find that if I don't skip that one without hearing any of the music, I get caught in it, shivers be damned. It's like watching a train wreck.
That's not surprising. "'97 Bonnie and Clyde" is from Strange Little Girls, which is an entire album of cover songs that were originally done by men. The original for "'97 Bonnie and Clyde" is by Eminem. It's about disposing of the body of his wife after he murders her.
You want to get even more creeped out? Listen to "Kim," by Eminem, which was released after, but is him actually killing her. Yikes.
I didn't know that. Interesting. The thing that creeps me out most is that it's addressed to the man's small daughter, as they dispose of the body together. ::shudder::
I don't think that's true. From what I know of Strange Little Girls, she didn't change any of the lyrics or anything... but DevilMuse has just informed me that StB is right -- Tori Amos released a statement saying that it was supposed to be from the dead woman's perspective. Which is just retarded. Because that's totally not the point of the song at all.
Anyway... the thing I originally wanted to say was that in the original, Eminem actually took his daughter Hayleigh into the studio, and her voice is in the recording. He told Kim that he was taking her to Chuck E. Cheese's or something like that. Boy was she pissed when she found out the truth.
