I hate boolean arithmetic. I can't ever get the NOTs and ANDs and ORs to go where they belong to get the right result.

Note to self:

if a != b and c != d

is not the same as

!(a = b and c = d)

In other news, I have a face ache, of all things. It's been bothering me for nigh on a week now. Feels like I've been straining my jaw by grinding my teeth together, or opening really wide, but as far as I can tell I haven't done either of those things. Maybe it's related to my continuing cold/flu? Who knows.

I do that, of course I also grind my teeth when I'm awake. It's stops me from murdering all the pinheads I am forced to see at work/home.

I find it useful to bracket the hell out of everything (especially since in ruby, '&&' has a higher precedence than 'and', and similarly for '||' and 'or'). That way I never need to worry about the interpreter misinterpreting me.

Definitely. I do bracket everything. But I get tripped up when I have to negate something. Always end up with the NOT in the wrong place, as above. The first is what I had written. The second is what I had wanted. As I discovered much later, after finally noticing that nothing was being returned from my SQL query.
