So I went to the movie theater tonight to see...Three guesses and the first two don't count.

Yes, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. How'd you know?

I liked it a lot, but wasn't quite blown away in the same way I'd been by the first one. I think that's mostly because there weren't as many surprises. I already knew how they would interpret Hogwarts, Quidditch, the professors, Harry, Ron, Hermione, Hagrid...sure, there were a few new characters (Kenneth Branagh's Gilderoy Lockhart was perfect), but on the whole there wasn't a lot of new eye-candy. And not nearly enough Professor Snape, sadly. Lucius Malfoy was a delightful nastiness, but not one that I at least will be drooling over. His character is more two-dimensional than Snape's; pure evil is not nearly as interesting as spiteful good.

I have no idea what they're going to do without Richard Harris to play Dumbledore--but then, it's not even clear that they'll have the same kids next time. I don't know how I feel about that

I want the new book! Please, Ms. Rowling, take pity?

The nasty rumor I've heard is that Tom Baker (oft regarded as the definitive Dr. Who) wants the role.

I think that Richard Attenborough on stilts might work :)

I second that. I think Peter O'Toole would be perfect.

*giggle* You're right, I don't think that it would work... although he'd be quite good at it!
As for Christopher Lee... Harry Potter and the vampires of azkhaban??!

on ign.com (http://filmforce.ign.com/harrypotter/articles/376/376372p1.html) I found this quote which I enjoyed (and which scored Mr. Lee quite a few points in my book):
In a newly posted statement on the site, Lee says, "I wasn't approached about replacing Richard and it also wasn't true that the role in the first film only went to Richard after I turned it down. I was never asked, and I don't know where these rumors have come from, but I find it all a bit distasteful so soon after his death. ... The only thing that is sure is that I will be in both of the next two Lord of the Rings movies, and I am considering three of four other interesting roles."
