You know, one of the few things I hate about working here (besides the non-queer-accepting environment, which in St Louis is not exactly unusual) is the requirement of submitting time sheets. I'm on salary. I don't get paid for overtime--but if I don't account for at least 40 hours in a week (or 80 hours each two weeks, really), I have to use vacation time to make it up. I hate time sheets. I always make the time up completely out of thin air. So what's the point?

I know what you mean. I have to account for 8 hours a day, whether or not I'm billable. I don't get it.

That's always seemed totally ridiculous to me, too. You work more than 40 hours, you get nothing. You work less than 40 hours, you get your pay docked. I believe it's actually illegal, or so I was told at one time - but I don't have citations to back that up.

i think they should be required to give you vacation time to make it up. :) not that my opinion counts, but yeah.

Do you have a time account for recording the amount of time you spend recording your time?

Time sheets definitely suck. Everyone at my company has to do them as well, even those on salary.

I really hate doing them, although luckily (to pull from something someone else posted), we have a 'job' number for 'training and administration', which is nice, so I can charge time towards actually filling out the damn thing.
