Despite my grumbling about the potential added commute, so far I am
liking the new building much better than the old one--and even that much
more over the old secondary building. The building itself is light and
airy (although they could have done better in choosing the carpeting:
it's got an op-art optical illusion effect), and the grounds are
wonderful. There are two ponds, a walking trail and a lot of mature
trees. I've heard at least one woodpecker out there and seen several
other birds.
But one bird encounter today was a sad one. A small blue bird of a kind
I'd never seen before (not a bluebird, mind you) was lying stunned on
the sidewalk outside the lunchroom. I hope he has recovered by now; I'll
have to go out and check on the way home. I think it was an indigo bunting.
