For the first time I was actually able to discuss a TV show with Joe. He
watches "House". He mentioned that the show makes a lot of allusions to
Sherlock Holmes, which I had failed to notice so far.

Must make a point of watching Tuesday's episode!

House/Wilson - Holmes/Watson

House/Holmes - brilliant, drug-addicted, more about the puzzle than the person, troubled relationship with woman in past (just to name a few).

Wilson/Watson - gentle, kind, caring, stalwart, loves women, puts up with friend's - erm - eccentricities.

Several episodes back, House and Wilson at door of House's place of residence. The address? 221B. Ahem.

He actually says, at one point, "my dear Wilson."

Also, the show is wicked slashy, with House and Wilson being the Gayest "Straight" Couple Ever. If you watch it and don't think they're sleeping together, I'll be amazed.

Also2, it's a wonderful show.
