I can't be the only person who looks at LJ's holiday decor and feels deprived that I've never seen the Northern Lights.

It's on my List of "Things I want to do before I die". Somehow.

I don't feel deprivd, but I definitely want to see them at some point. K's mom lives near Milwaukee, so maybe that's far enough north?

Near cities, the light blocks out the northern lights. Even so, IIRC, Toronto is usually too far south to get northern lights, so I suspect Milwaukee is Right Out.

Under rare conditions, auroras are visible as far south as New Mexico, so if you watch the forecast and it's a clear night and you can get out of the city, then you might get lucky.

Also, on two seperate flights from California to London I've seen the aurora as we passed over Canada.

We actually DID get a glimpse a few years ago here in St. Louis - and I DO mean a glimpse! It was a strange blueish color - but you had to sort of look away to see it.

I know - that doesn't count! :)

On my list of "Things to do before I die" I have "See Ozzie Osborne play live before he croaks". After watching an episode or two of the Osbornes I don't think he'll ever tour again.

I bet the Northern Lights would be MUCH better than Ozzie.
