When I arrived to pick up Rosa this morning, her legs were covered with white. Calamine lotion, she said. She'd been camping with Daddy but he wouldn't let her use bug repellent because "he doesn't like the smell". Mosquito bites over her whole body, poor ickle thing.

Corroborated by Ray himself. He says he "may rethink" this after seeing her misery.

I don't know if it would be worth suggesting the new picaridin repellents--they're much less smelly than DEET repellent, and work pretty well, and don't dissolve plastic.

I prefer Avon's Skin So Soft line. Keeps the mosquitoes away, smells fabulous and leaves your skin soft!

We have West Nile rampant; I personally know one person whose life has been changed by it. Experiment with scents, sure, but FAIL to cover a child? [growls]

You know, she should try the sonic mosquito repellant. I have a solar-powered one from Gaiam, and it repels 80% of bugs. When I use it with the lemon lavendar bug repellent (from Wal-Mart, $5, which smells WONDERFUL), the combo repels 100%. No bad smell, all organic.

It's Lemon and Eucalyptus and I love it! It smells good and has no deet. I use it at my son's baseball games at night and this weekend camping in the woods - nary a bug in site. It's in the camping section at Walmart not in the regular section with the OFF and other deet stuff.
