PSA: Vehicle ice removal

On the way in to work today, I saw at least fifteen vehicles (I was counting) which had had dangerously incomplete ice removal. Most had not scraped even a peephole in the rear window, and even if they had that's not enough.

Proper ice or snow removal means getting at least 90% of the ice off of ALL the windows AND the side mirrors AND the headlights AND the taillights.

The rear defrosting wires are partially busted. So even if I scrape it fully when I leave the house, if conditions are really dire, it can get partially covered before I get to my destination, alas. I try my best, but I can't always pull over and clean off rear windshield multiple times during a trip.

My own pet peeves are the maroons who refuse to turn on their lights during storms if it's during "daylight" hours, who drive too fast, and who follow too closely. They're desperately dangerous to themselves and others.

Fair enough. But it was pretty clear in the cases I'm talking about that they had never scraped at all. :-(

I second that. Blowing powdery snow is one thing... I'm really tired of being clobbered by giant ice chunks breaking off of roofs and flying at me at 70 mph, though.

What often happens to me is I clear the rear window and the roof, then when I start driving, whatever bits I missed on the roof all get blown onto the rear window. It's very annoying.
