One item completed on the year's goal list: I auditioned for a solo in the spring concert. I probably won't get one, despite practicing with my voice coach and everything, because I was flat on one whole section and garbled the words on the other, despite having the sheet music in front of me: I mixed in part of the chorus as it sounds on the radio, rather than what was written in the arrangement. "I'd like to hear some funky dixieland come on pretty mama" instead of "I'd like to hear some funky dixieland and dance a honkytonk". Not even the same melody, yikes.

On the upside, unlike my last audition attempt, at least I mostly kept to the beat and didn't run ahead or behind, and I didn't miss the entrances. I guess I'll call that progress.

Afterward, I had to sit at the table and twitch for several minutes as the adrenaline dissipated.
