On the phone with the ex-husband, discussing next weekend. I tell him my parents are coming for the concert. He says, "Are they going to be okay with that show. I mean there's a lot of homosexuals there..."
I say, "They'll be fine, and also that word is only used by people who are being disparaging."
He says, "What am I supposed to call people who have same-sex attraction?"
I say, "That phrase also is only used by people who are disparaging."
He says he's apparently not politically correct but he doesn't mean to be insulting. I do not have either time or inclination to teach him appropriate language usage as I am sitting at my work desk with half the office around me. But seriously, he sounds exactly like the oh-so-concerned "love the sinner hate the sin" crowd.
Wish I'd thought to answer his question with "People."
