I've been binging on reading a bit, since it had been such a long time since I've read anything. Last night I picked up Fall on Your Knees by Ann-Marie Macdonald. I intended to put the book down after a couple of chapters, since it was already after eleven pm. Every chapter I finished, I told myself "just one more". As you will already have guessed, I stayed up and read the whole thing.

It's a dark and engrossing story set in a bleak place at a very bleak time. Each chapter seemed to reveal something new about the family, until by the end of the book almost nothing was as it had seemed in the beginning. I'm still mulling it over.

Yay CanLit!

I have that sitting on my shelf - I started reading it a while ago, and really enjoyed it, but put it down to do some schoolwork, and never picked it up again.

I probably should.

Wow, I'm impressed. I *so so so* disliked "Fall On Your Knees." I guess it just goes to show how different two people's perspectives can be. Although I must admit, I'd like to know what happened to everyone in the end (without having to read it):) I need Cliff's Notes. I just find that sometimes if I don't like or can't identify with any of the characters in the book, I can't enjoy it. I didn't like the way the father treated Materia at all, and it bugged me that I couldn't figure out how to pronounce Materia's name in my head. I know, a silly thing to quibble about, but it bugged me. I'm really glad you enjoyed the book, though - there's nothing better than a book you love so much you have to plow through it.
