Last night's book

semperfionaI've been binging on reading a bit, since it had been such a long time since I've read anything. Last night I picked up Fall on Your Knees by Ann-Marie Macdonald. I intended to put the book down after a couple of chapters, since it was already after eleven pm. Every chapter I finished, I told myself "just one more". As you will already have guessed, I stayed up and read the whole thing.
It's a dark and engrossing story set in a bleak place at a very bleak time. Each chapter seemed to reveal something new about the family, until by the end of the book almost nothing was as it had seemed in the beginning. I'm still mulling it over.
