Archon Saturday
Oct. 6th, 2002 09:01 amMet Jill and Jen around one o'clock. Jen and I each got dressed in our new chemises, overskirts, and suede bodices. Went to a couple of panels--and heckled the panelists, being in bratty mode--but mostly wandered around looking for people we might know.
We got enlisted in an "interactive murder mystery", which was a little bit disappointing since we'd hoped it would be more like a LARP but it was really like a play: everyone had defined lines to read and then at the end they just asked whether we'd solved the mystery or not. I had two parts: Virginia Slim, the very private secretary of Wynn Stun, and Abigail Van Burnem, gossip columnist. Jen was Abby's sister Anne Slanders. Jill was...I can't remember. It was set in the Roaring Twenties, with gun molls and gangsters.
Met up with Jen's friend Erik about five. Had dinner at Arby's and played the Twiddle song for Jill and Erik, then went to his room where he was going to change into a costume (but didn't, because the costume was locked in someone else's car), Jen put on her corset, and Jill got back into jeans. She'd been wearing a velvet Ren dress.
Wandered around a while longer. Did not watch the Masquerade. Each got backrubs from Erik. More wandering until eleven, when we all attended the last panel of the night: "Sex Toys of the Future". Unsurprisingly, that was the best attended panel we went to, though it seemed to surprise the organizers, as the room was too small. However, at that hour it was the only panel, and we moved to a bigger room.
JIll left after the panel, leaving Erik, Jen and me to party-surf. It was underwhelming. There really weren't any parties that interested any of us. But we walked the halls holding hands and amusing onlookers. Jen had more people taking pictures of her tattoos. ::quirky smile:: And grape-diving. Mmm.
In the end we gave up on parties and went to the dance, where we amused and titillated many people by sandwiching Jen on the dance floor. One person actually asked, "Are you guys together?" and wanted to know how it worked out. Since this was a first, there wasn't much anyone could tell her.
Back to the hospitality suite for a rest, more party-surfing, still not finding anything that interested us, and then I realized I had to get out of the bodice before I fell down. We went out to my car, and I just changed right there in the parking lot. Jen was trying to protect my modesty, but I didn't give a fuck anymore, so someone somewhere may have gotten a cheap thrill.
Jen kissed me goodnight, Erik also (though that was only a small one) and I went home and crashed into bed.

Oct. 6th, 2002 03:02 pmI just got a rather frightening note from Kirk. In his own words:
"Got good and bad news. The bad news was that I spent most of the last month fighting a kidney stone. In finding the kidney stone they found something that looks a lot like kidney cancer. The good news is that this has a very small chance of killing me if I get it removed in the next 6-10 weeks."
