I'm surprised it doesn't block LJ as "Major Time Suck".
We don't have a netnanny that I'm aware of, just periodic notification that they "may" be monitoring our net usage, including the sites visited. I just try to avoid anything overtly sexual in content, especially pictures.
I asked our network admin if anything other than the NetNanny alerts are looked at. The answer was "no" :) The stupid NetNanny has preconfigured categories of sites that can be blocked - I think they forgot about the massive time waster category :)
The GIMP. I don't know whether it has a specific red-eye reduction function or not. I can check tonight perhaps, or you could try googling and see if there is a feature listing.
never heard of it. oh, okay there is a GIMP for Windows. it says it does retouching.
we were thinking Photoshop would be a step up from what we have now which is MSPhotoworks or something dreadful. how do you like GIMP, now that you've tried it?
Hm. It's free, which is a big plus. But it's complicated, and comes with very little documentation, so it isn't really easy to use. On the other hand, I think Photoshop is also complicated, and I had no experience with anything but the very basic photo-editing software that comes with scanners/digital cameras.
